Three steps. That’s all it takes to get from the door into the laundry room to the door into the garage.  I’ve taken those three steps a million times. Ok, maybe not a million, but a lot. . Three steps. In a familiar place. Should be so easy I can do it with my eyes closed, right? Or in the dark?  Light is easily accessible. There’s a switch on each wall But so many times I try to make that three-step journey in the dark. When I do, I get disoriented, walk crooked, and run into things. Why didn’t I turn on the light?

I know where the light switches are. I know how to turn on the light. I know that three-step journey is easier in the light. But still, I think, I can make it in the dark. It’s only three steps. Then, in total darkness, I lose my bearings. I don’t know where that other door is or which way I’m going.

Are you walking in the dark? Have you lost your sense of where you are and which way you’re going?

Flip the switch.

Turn the Light on.

Jesus is the Light. He has promised to be with us. We have a choice to follow him as Lord and Savior. We also have the choice to continue to walk in darkness.

Light is better.

Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 CSB
